Although known as circus performers in the early 20th century, the American Eskimo Dog has never found a solid toehold in film—unless you count Kevin. A minor sensation was caused in 2009 when the bizarrely named “Kevin” made a splash with movie-going public in The Proposal. Everyone wanted to know what breed that unbelievably cute puppy was. For a classic with an Eskie-lookalike see The Lady with the Dog (1960), costarring a German Spitz.
